Travelling the world has never been easier — and keeping track of everywhere you've been has never been nicer. Your personal travel map records where you've traveled: mark the cities and countries you've visited, see at a glance what percentage of the world and how many continents you've covered, and share your map with friends.
So what exactly are country points? It's simple: for every country — and with us, even every city — you've visited, you collect a point. The more you travel, the fuller your map and the higher your score. Unlike other services, we focus on individual places and cities, because having been to Moscow doesn't mean you've seen all of Russia.
Here's how collecting works: add the cities you've been to, either by searching or automatically from the trips you plan in the PlanYourTrip planner. Your countries fall out of your visited cities all by themselves — been to Rome, and Italy counts. Every place shows up as a point on your world map, while your country-points score, the continents you've reached, and your milestones update in real time.
How many countries there even “are” is something the lists disagree on: the UN counts 193 member states, the ISO 3166 standard around 249 countries and territories, and travel clubs like the Travelers' Century Club split the world into 300+ destinations. With us, the best place to start is your own countries list — and if you like, you can also track your progress against one of these well-known collection lists. Your visited places count towards all of them.
Collecting country points is, above all, about discovering new things. Instead of returning to the same destinations again and again, your map nudges you to visit somewhere not everyone has been. Some treat it like geocaching and want to experience as many interesting places as possible; others simply let their points grow along the way. Both are perfectly fine — in the end, every point stands for a real memory and an experience that's uniquely yours.

Collect Travelers' Century Club Country Points
The Travelers' Century Club (TCC) was founded in 1954 in Los Angeles and maintains a list of around 330 countries and territories worldwide. It's the oldest club of its kind, and membership starts once you've visited 100 destinations. You'll find more on the club's website.

Collect Country Points with the ISO-3166 List
ISO 3166 is the international standard for country codes from the International Organization for Standardization. Alongside the UN member states it also covers numerous territories and special regions, making it one of the broader country lists.

Collect Country Points with the United Nations List
The 193 member states of the United Nations are the internationally recognised baseline list of the world's countries. It's kept deliberately small — territories such as Palestine, Kosovo or Taiwan aren't included as UN members.
